DAY 2---10 SEPTEMBER  Arrive London in the morning.

  • LUNCH  Afternoon check-in at hotel

DAY 3---11 SEPTEMBER  Using public transportation depart hotel for:

  • Site Visit 2. Little Venice

  • Site Visit 3.  Boat Trip Regents Canal

  • LUNCH

  • Board public trip boat at Parliament Warf adjacent to Big Ben for:

  • Site Visit 4. Kew Steam Engines

  • Site Visit 5. Botanical Gardens?     Time permitting

  • Return to hotel...................................Night   London

DAY 4---12 SEPTEMBER

  • Depart London using the M4 and A338 to Crofton

  • Site Visit 6.  Crofton Steam Beam Engines and Pumping Station

  • Kennet and Avon Canal

  • Proceed West on the A345 and A342 to Devizes

  • Site Visit 7.   29Lock Flight at Caen Hill, Devizes- Kennet and Avon Canal

  • LUNCH  DEVIZES     (Beer Horses?)           

  • Proceed West on the A361 to Bradford-on-Avon

  • Site Visit 8.  Boat Trip on Kennet and Avon Canal Across 2 Aqueducts to Bath Walk Down the Bath Flight ...........................................................Night   Bath

DAY 6---14 SEPTEMBER

  • Proceed West on the A4 to Bristol

  • Site Visit 9.  Boat Trip Around  Bristol Harbor

  • Site Visit 10. Industrial Museum, Bristol

  • Site Visit 11. Ship "GREAT BRITAIN" First screw propeller ocean vessel

  • LUNCH  BRISTOL

  • Proceed North on the M32 and Northwest across the Severn Estuary on the M4 continuing west to Newport on the M4 

  • Site Visit 12. Cwmbran Branch Restoration? Of the Monmouthshire Canal

  • Return on the M4 to the M5-proceed North on the M5 and East on the A419   through Stroud to Coates

  • Site Visit 13. Southeast Portal of the Sapperton Tunnel Restoration-Thames and Severn Canal

  • Return to the M5 and proceed North to Gloucester

  • ................................Night   Gloucester

DAY 7---15 SEPTEMBER

  • Site Visit 14. Gloucester National Canal Museum

  • LUNCH GLOUCESTER or On Motorway

  • Proceed North on the M5, East on the M6 and South on the A38(M) to

  • Birmingham City Centre and the WARF TRAVEL INN?

  •  FREE TIME--Walk to Brindley Place and Fazeley Canal

DAY 8---16 SEPTEMBER

  • Proceed short distance Northwest from Birmingham to:

  • Proceed Southwest from Birmingham on the M42 to:

  • Site Visit 18. Tardebigge Locks - Worcester & Birmingham Canal

  • Proceed West on the A 448 and A450 to: Site Visit 19. Stourport-on-Severn  South Terminus of Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal

  • Proceed North along S & W Canal through Kidderminster to:

  •  Site Visit 20. Stourton-- Junction of Stourbridge and S & W Canals

  •  LUNCH

  •   Return to Birmingham

  •  FREE TIME, Birmingham Farmers Bridge?

  • ..............................................Night   Birmingham

DAY 10---18 SEPTEMBER

  • Proceed West and Northwest from Birmingham on the M6 and M54 to

  • Telford then North on the A442 to the B5063 Northwest to: Site Visit 21. Thomas Telford's First Cast Iron Aqueduct at Longdon-on-Turn on the Abandoned Shrewsbury Canal

  • Return to Telford and proceed south on the A4169 to Coalbrookdale in the Severn River Gorge

  • Site Visit 22. Birth of the Industrial Revolution- Ironbridge Gorge Museum

  • Proceed Southeast a short distance to Coalport

  • LUNCH

  • Site Visit 23. Hay Incline Plane-Shropshire Canal, Blists Hill

  • Return to Birmingham

  • ......................................................Night   Birmingham

DAY 11---19 SEPTEMBER

  •  Depart Birmingham proceeding North on the M6 to Stoke-on-Trent then

  •  East on the A52 and North on the A520 to:

  • Site Visit 24. Caldon Canal Hazelhurst Junction

  • Proceed a short distance Southeast to:

  • Site Visit 25. Caldon Canal Froghall

  • Proceed West back to Stoke-on-Trent and West on the A525 and A539 to

  • Wales and Llangollen.

  • Site Visit 26. Horsehoe Falls and Llangollen

  • Site Visit 27. Telford's Splendid Pontcysyllte Aqueduct--Boat Trip Across Aqueduct

  • Proceed South on the A5 to Chirk

  • Site Visit 28.  Telford's Chirk Aqueduct and Tunnel

  • Proceed North on the A483 to Chester

DAY 12---20 SEPTEMBER

  •  Proceed North on the M53 to Ellesmere Port

  •  Site Visit 29. Boat Museum in Ellesmere Port

  •  Proceed East on the M56 and the A533 to Northwich and:

  •  Site Visit 30. The Anderton Lift--the World's First Hydraulic Boat Lift

  •  Proceed North to Lymm and Brindley's Bridgewater Canal and Northeast toward Manchester to: Site Visit 31. Barton Swing Aqueduct Over the Manchester Ship Canal

  •  Proceed Southeast to Marple

  •  Site Visit 32. Marple Aqueduct and Locks - Macclesfield Canal
